SLOTWAGEN SCRATCH BUILD KIT – REFUND & RETURNS POLICY

1. Important – Nature of Our Scratch Build Kits

Slotwagen Scratch Build Kits are specifically designed for hobbyists, model builders and slot car enthusiasts who enjoy the process of building, preparing, fitting, sanding, smoothing, modifying, painting, assembling and tuning their own models.

These products are not Ready-to-Run models and should not be regarded as conventional pre-finished White Kits.

Customers are strongly encouraged to refer to our detailed explanation, “White Kits vs Scratch Build Kits,” before purchasing so that they clearly understand the difference between these two types of products.

By purchasing a Slotwagen Scratch Build Kit, the customer acknowledges that preparation and finishing work forms an intentional and fundamental part of the product.

2. IMPORTANT NOTICE – 3D PRINTED PARTS, CHASSIS & COMPONENTS

Many Slotwagen components, including certain chassis, brackets, motor mounts, interior parts and other components, are manufactured using 3D-printing technology.

3D-Printed Parts Are Supplied as Working Components Requiring Finishing

Customers must understand that a 3D-printed component may show normal characteristics associated with the manufacturing process, including:

• Visible 3D-printing layer lines.

• Support marks where printing supports have been removed.

• Small raised areas or contact points created by support structures.

• Minor surface texture.

• Small printing marks or irregularities.

• Slightly rough edges.

• Minor marks caused during manufacturing, handling or packaging.

• Small cosmetic scratches that do not prevent the component from being prepared and used.

• Areas that require sanding, filing, trimming or smoothing before final assembly.

These characteristics are normal for 3D-printed Scratch Build Kit components and are not automatically considered manufacturing defects.

Chassis Are Not Supplied as Smooth, Finished Components

In particular, customers must understand that 3D-printed chassis are not intended to arrive with a perfectly smooth, injection-moulded or commercially polished finish.

The chassis may contain visible layer lines, support marks, rough areas or printing points that require preparation.

The builder is expected to:

• Remove remaining support marks where necessary.

• Sand rough surfaces.

• Smooth printing lines where desired.

• File edges.

• Clean openings.

• Test-fit components.

• Adjust mounting areas.

• Check wheel, axle and motor alignment.

• Make minor adjustments necessary for the particular build.

This preparation process is part of the purpose and enjoyment of purchasing a Scratch Build Kit.

A complaint that a 3D-printed chassis, body or component requires sanding, smoothing, filing or preparation will therefore not, by itself, constitute grounds for a refund or replacement.

3. Resin Bodies & Scratch Build Components

Resin bodies and other handmade or small-production components may also require preparation before painting and assembly.

Depending on the manufacturing process, preparation may include:

• Sanding.

• Cleaning.

• Filling minor imperfections.

• Removing support or casting marks.

• Trimming excess material.

• Opening or cleaning mounting holes.

• Test fitting.

• Adjusting chassis-to-body fit.

• Preparing surfaces for primer and paint.

Minor surface marks or imperfections that can reasonably be corrected through normal hobby preparation are considered part of the Scratch Build Kit process.

4. No Refunds for Normal Scratch Build Preparation

Slotwagen will not approve a refund solely because a customer reports:

• 3D-printing lines on a chassis or component.

• Visible support marks.

• Areas where 3D-printing supports were attached.

• A chassis that requires sanding or smoothing.

• Rough areas on an unfinished 3D-printed component.

• Minor cosmetic marks caused during manufacture or packaging.

• A component requiring filing or trimming.

• A body or chassis requiring test fitting and adjustment.

• Minor fitting differences between individual handmade or printed components.

• A requirement to prepare parts before painting or assembly.

These are characteristics reasonably associated with an unfinished Scratch Build Kit.

5. Products Not Eligible for Return or Refund

Subject to applicable consumer legislation, Slotwagen does not accept returns or provide refunds for parts or products that have been:

• Damaged during assembly or the building process.

• Sanded.

• Filed.

• Trimmed.

• Drilled.

• Glued.

• Painted or primed.

• Modified or customised.

• Assembled or partially assembled.

• Altered from their supplied condition.

• Incorrectly fitted or installed.

• Damaged through incorrect tools or excessive force.

• Damaged through misuse, accidents or racing incidents.

• Damaged through incorrect electrical or mechanical installation.

Performance issues resulting from customer modifications, setup, tuning, motor choice, gearing, wheel alignment, tyre selection or other customisation are also not grounds for refund.

Once building, sanding, modification, assembly or painting has commenced, the product will generally be regarded as having been accepted as a Scratch Build Kit and will no longer qualify as an unopened return.

6. Fitment & Builder Responsibility

Scratch Build Kits often require individual fitting.

Unlike mass-produced Ready-to-Run models, minor adjustment between components may be required.

This can include:

• Chassis-to-body adjustment.

• Wheel and tyre clearance.

• Axle positioning.

• Body mounting.

• Motor positioning.

• Guide alignment.

• Interior clearance.

• Window fitting.

• Filing or sanding mounting locations.

• Adjusting component tolerances.

A component requiring reasonable adjustment or preparation during assembly does not automatically mean that the component is defective.

7. Returns of Unopened Products

If you wish to return an unused and unopened product, you must contact Slotwagen before returning the item and obtain approval and a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).

Once a return has been approved, Slotwagen will provide the applicable return instructions and return address.

Returned products must:

• Be brand new and unused.

• Be in their original packaging.

• Be unopened.

• Include all originally supplied components.

• Be suitable for resale.

Products that have been opened, assembled, sanded, modified, painted, drilled, glued or otherwise altered are not eligible for return unless Slotwagen supplied an incorrect product or where otherwise required by applicable law.

8. Return Timeframe

Approved returns must be dispatched back to Slotwagen within 15 calendar days of the original purchase date, unless otherwise agreed in writing or required under applicable consumer legislation.

The customer is responsible for return shipping costs unless Slotwagen has verified that an incorrect item was supplied.

We strongly recommend using a courier or postal service that provides tracking and proof of delivery.

Slotwagen cannot accept responsibility for returned parcels lost during return transit.

9. Inspection & Refund Processing

All returned items are subject to inspection.

A refund will only be processed once the product has been received and confirmed to comply with the conditions of this policy.

Approved refunds will normally be made using the original payment method, including PayPal or credit card where applicable.

Customers should allow up to 10 calendar days after approval of the returned item for the refund to be processed.

Processing times imposed by banks, credit card providers or payment processors are outside Slotwagen's control.

10. Restocking Fee

For approved discretionary returns that are not the result of an incorrect product being supplied by Slotwagen, Slotwagen reserves the right to apply a 20% restocking fee.

This assists in covering:

• Product inspection.

• Administration.

• Handling.

• Repackaging.

• Inventory processing.

11. Non-Refundable Products

Subject to applicable consumer legislation, the following products are generally not eligible for refund or exchange:

• Scratch Build Kits that have been opened and building has commenced.

• 3D-printed parts that have been sanded, filed, drilled or modified.

• Kits or components that have been assembled.

• Painted or primed products.

• Glued products.

• Custom-fabricated products.

• Made-to-order products.

• Special-order products.

• Digital products or downloadable files.

• Clearance products.

• Discontinued stock sold as such.

12. SlotBoss Orders

SlotBoss products are specialist kit products and may have different manufacturing and delivery conditions.

Where the advertised delivery period is 3–4 months from receipt of final payment, an order that remains within this stated delivery period will not be regarded as overdue solely because the product has not yet been dispatched.

Any SlotBoss-specific terms displayed on the product listing or provided at the time of purchase must be read together with this policy.

13. Incorrect or Missing Items

If you believe that Slotwagen supplied an incorrect item or that an order is incomplete, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

Please provide:

• Your order number.

• A description of the problem.

• Clear photographs of the products received.

• Photographs of the packaging where relevant.

Once verified, Slotwagen will determine the appropriate remedy, which may include providing the missing item, replacing the incorrectly supplied item, or issuing a refund where appropriate.

Where Slotwagen has verified that an incorrect item was supplied and requests its return, reasonable approved return shipping costs may be reimbursed.

14. Shipping Damage

Damage believed to have occurred during transportation must be reported to both the courier and Slotwagen as soon as possible after delivery.

Customers may be required to provide photographs showing:

• The unopened parcel.

• The shipping label.

• Outer packaging.

• Internal packaging.

• The affected components.

These photographs may be necessary for Slotwagen to submit a claim to the courier or shipping insurer.

Normal 3D-printing support marks, printing lines, sanding marks or unfinished surface textures must not be confused with courier damage.

15. Acceptance of Scratch Build Kit Characteristics

By purchasing a Slotwagen Scratch Build Kit, the customer acknowledges that they are purchasing an unfinished hobby product intended to be built and finished by the customer.

The customer specifically acknowledges and accepts that:

3D-printed components may contain support marks, layer lines, rough areas and other visible characteristics associated with 3D-printing technology.

Chassis and other 3D-printed components may require sanding, filing, trimming, smoothing and test fitting before assembly.

The requirement to perform this work is intentional and forms part of the Scratch Build Kit building experience.

These characteristics should therefore not automatically be interpreted as product defects.

The customer accepts responsibility for the tools, techniques and methods used when preparing, assembling, painting, tuning and modifying the product.

Slotwagen cannot accept responsibility for damage caused during these processes or for subsequent modifications performed by the customer.

IMPORTANT

A SCRATCH BUILD KIT IS DESIGNED TO BE BUILT — NOT SIMPLY ASSEMBLED.

Slotwagen Scratch Build Kits are intended for builders who enjoy preparing and finishing their models.

Sanding, smoothing, filing, test fitting and preparing 3D-printed parts are normal and expected parts of the build process.

A 3D-printed chassis showing support marks, layer lines or areas requiring sanding should therefore not be expected to have the same smooth factory finish as an injection-moulded Ready-to-Run component.

That difference is fundamental to the nature of a Slotwagen Scratch Build Kit.
